Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 2026

1. General

We take the protection of your personal data very seriously. This privacy policy informs you which data is collected when using nos-weather.info and how we handle it.

Controller within the meaning of the GDPR: See Legal Notice.

2. Hosting (Vercel)

This website runs on infrastructure provided by Vercel Inc. (440 N Barranca Ave #4133, Covina, CA 91723, USA). When you visit the site, Vercel processes technically necessary data (IP address, browser type, requested URL, timestamp) as a processor under Art. 28 GDPR.

Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in the secure operation of the website). More information: Vercel Privacy Policy

3. Web analytics (Vercel Analytics)

We use Vercel Web Analytics to obtain anonymized, aggregated statistics about the use of this website (e.g. page views, approximate geographic region, browser used). The service works without cookies and without persistently identifying individual visitors; the IP address is only briefly processed to determine the approximate region and is not stored.

Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in analyzing and improving the offering). Since no cookies or comparable storage technologies on your device are used for this, no consent under § 25 TTDSG (German Telecommunications-Telemedia Data Protection Act) is required. More information: Vercel Web Analytics – Privacy

4. Weather data APIs

The following services are used to provide weather data:

  • Open-Meteo (open-meteo.com) – free weather data service. The app queries weather data for the Nürburgring coordinates server-side. No personal data of yours is transmitted to Open-Meteo in the process. Terms
  • Deutscher Wetterdienst (DWD) – public weather data via opendata.dwd.de, no authentication, no transmission of personal data.
  • Anthropic Claude API – the server-side AI forecast is generated via the Anthropic API. Only aggregated weather data (no user data whatsoever) is transmitted. Anthropic Privacy

5. Cookies and local storage

This website uses no cookies – neither technically necessary ones nor tracking or marketing cookies. Your browser’s local storage (localStorage) only stores whether you have confirmed the disclaimer (technically necessary, legal basis Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). This data never leaves your device and is not transmitted to third parties.

Since neither cookies nor comparable storage/read technologies within the meaning of § 25 TTDSG are used, no cookie consent banner is currently required. Should services requiring consent (e.g. cookie-based tracking) be added in the future, a corresponding consent mechanism will be added here.

6. Donation links (external services)

This website contains links to Buy Me a Coffee and PayPal. These links open external websites in a new tab. Those providers’ privacy policies apply when you use their services. We have no influence over their data processing.

7. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the following rights:

  • Access to processed data (Art. 15 GDPR)
  • Rectification of inaccurate data (Art. 16 GDPR)
  • Erasure (Art. 17 GDPR)
  • Restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR)
  • Objection (Art. 21 GDPR)
  • Lodging a complaint with a supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR)

As we do not actively collect or store personal data, an access request is generally not applicable. Contact: Legal Notice
